Day 2-B: Hoh Rain Forest

After driving up the Pacific coast awhile, we headed inland to Hoh Rainforest.  We did 2 short loop trails from the Visitors Center here, after having a picnic lunch, the Hall of Mosses Trail (0.8 mile) and Spruce Nature Trail (1.2 miles).

This is the Hoh  River we saw driving in.

On the hike we crossed over several small streams that were so clear. There were baby salmon in them. The ranger said that at spawning time all these streams are full of salmon that come up to lay their eggs.

One of the hikes we did was called the "Hall of Mosses" because the moss grows so thick on the trees.

We saw an elk on this hike, the only one we saw on the trip.

This was a whole line of big trees all growing out of one nurse log.

Part of the loop trail took us along the Hoh  River, which is a glacier fed river. It was so blue and was really moving.

I figured out how to use my phone to take panoramic photos.  While I tried to figure it out Todd took a siesta.

Check out the moss growing on this old phone booth.
