After our great hike at Lake Flattery, we headed back down the road along the Straits of Juan de Fuca and turned south to go to Sol Duc, another rain forest that also has a hot spring. We were looking forward to a dip in the hot springs but when we got there we discovered the spring was not what we pictured, but a glorified swimming pool with the spring water piped in. There were actually 3 of these little pool/springs with different temperatures to chose from. The problem was that they were full of people! We didn't relish the thought of putting on a bathing suit and sitting shoulder to shoulder with all that humanity. So we passed on Sol Duc and drove back to the main road and headed east toward Crescent Lake.
Crescent Lake was a beautiful blue glacial lake.
But it was getting late and wanted to get to a campground and get some dinner. We just admired this pretty lake from the car as we drove to Log Cabin Resort, run by the park system. It was a great facility with a lodge, cabins, and camping spots. See us in our little campsite right beside the lake with beautiful views! These pics were taken from our campsite.
Well, this view wasn't so wonderful but we just focused our attention on the lake!
We had a great dinner in the lodge restaurant and met some other travelers. One of the great features of the "resort" was that it had a laundry facility (which we took advantage of to wash a load) and showers. For just 2 quarters you could get a great warm shower, a welcome thing after 2 days of camping and hiking with no shower!
